If you’re here it’s because you’re an experienced social media professional. One of NZ’s best.

The purpose of these awards is to elevate the status of our profession in all it’s forms.

When #smcakl started in 2010 social media was considered a curiosity at best and a fad by many. In a few short years it’s passed the tipping point: the most talented communications, creative, entertainment and social change leaders are now going social-first in pursuit of the biggest impact.

So it’s essential these awards reflect the highest levels of prestige and function with absolute professionalism.

The NZ Social Media Academy

You’re invited to join a group of laureates who will ensure our industry’s highest honour authentically awards the very best work and talent.

The ask right now is to review 2017 #NZSMA entries so we can establish up to 5 finalists per category.

Please use the form below to indicate which categories you feel qualified to assess and haven’t entered or otherwise have a bias in.

You’ll be sent a link to the complete category entries with a form to score each on preset criteria. You need to create a password to access this.

Any and all feedback on the categories, how to accept entries and assess them better in future will also be gratefully received.

With talent/influencers being included in these awards for the first time it’s possible entries that should be there are not. You’re invited to add anyone you consider an obvious omission in a category you’re judging. One possible solution for future years is to maintain a rough register of our leading talent across these categories to ensure they are all included in judging, along with anyone else who puts themselves forward.

On this website

Unless you object, you’ll be listed as part of this ‘academy’ on the site, with clear prefix that no individual judged categories they’d entered and every category was reviewed by three people minimum. There won’t be any implication that you approve of every details of #NZSMA’s configuration this year, but that ongoing input from this group will be sought for the award’s future.
